On October 8, 1967 in the mountain forests of Bolivia near the village of La Higuera, after a short firefight, he was wounded and arrested by the Bolivian soldiers Ernesto Che Guevara.
In 1965, for all Cubans, the sudden disappearance of their revolutionary leader Che Guevara was a big surprise. Various assumptions were expressed: sick, arrested, killed, etc.
Six months later, his farewell letter was published, which Fidel Castro himself publicized. It said: "I officially refuse the post of minister, the rank of major, Cuban citizenship ... I have nothing more to do with Cuba, except for special ties, which I cannot refuse, just like I refuse my posts."

At that time no one knew about the real reasons for Ernesto’s hasty departure from Cuba, but later it became known: he went to Bolivia on Castro’s order to make a revolution in Latin America.
Che Guevara did not achieve the desired results, his guerrilla activities in Bolivia lasted only about a year, after which the soldiers of the Bolivian army seized him.
The next day, on the orders of the Bolivian military government, Che Guevara was shot without trial - obviously, they were afraid of his escape from prison and excessive publicity in the event of a trial, because it would attract the attention of the whole world.
