During the excavation of one of the most ancient districts of Jerusalem, Israeli archaeologists managed to find a miniature clay amulet.
In their opinion, this object once protected its owner from the "evil eye". It was made in the 9th or 10th century AD, that is, in the era of the Abbasid caliphate. The amulet reads well in Arabic, which was translated by scholars as follows: "Karim believes in Allah, the lord of the worlds is Allah."
"Apparently, the amulet belonged to a man named Karim," explained Dr. Iftah Shalef from the Israel Antiquities Authority. "Since time immemorial, such amulets have been used to protect against evil eye and evil spirits."
The finding of the find was helped by the analysis of the soil layer in which it was discovered, as well as artifacts found nearby - lamps and fragments of ceramics.
