The official end of the First World War, which began in 1914, was the signing by France, Great Britain and Germany of the Compiegne Armistice on November 11, 1918.
Most of the points of the document concerned the disarmament of Germany. She was supposed to give away 5,000 heavy and field guns, 30,000 machine guns, 2,000 aircraft, 5,000 locomotives, 8 heavy cruisers, 10 cruisers and 300 submarines.
As for the occupied territories, they had to be released within 15 days after signing the contract.

All prisoners of war were supposed to return home. This only did not apply to the Germans who were captured - they were kept in camps in the future.
The negotiations took place in the headquarters carriage of the French marshal Foch in the Compiegne forest in France. At 11 in the morning the signal “Stop the fire!” Sounded. Germany recognized itself defeated.
For Germany, the Compiegne Truce was like national humiliation, but it was too exhausted to fight any further.
The Germans took revenge for him during the Second World War - defiantly forced the French to sign the Compiegne Truce of 1940 in the same "Foch wagon".
