The searcher in the swamp near Ribe in Denmark dug up a treasure of the IX century. In total there were 252 very rare silver coins with images of Viking rooks and deer.
The prospecter immediately contacted the South-West Jutland Museum and local specialists left for the excavation site. After research, scientists have concluded that silver is a ritual offering to the gods.
The treasure completely changed the scientific view of the coins and the coinage of the Vikings, experts said. It was believed that the "barbarians" had no regular coinage. But he was still! And already at the time of the first Danish king Goodfred, that is, more than 1000 years ago.
