In 1929, the Soviet Union was preparing a new design of playing cards. He was supposed to replace the traditional images of kings, queens and jacks.
They decided to depict Ukrainians, Russians and representatives of the peoples of the Caucasus and Central Asia on the maps.
A satirist Ilya Ilf spoke against the printing of cards in his feuilleton.
