Nearly 2 kg of silver coins were found on the territory of the “Ancient Kiev” reserve.

Director of the Department of Cultural Heritage Protection of the KSCA, Alexander Nikoryak, said that these were coins of 1 ruble, 50/20/10 kopecks. They were found in the basement of a building located in the reserve that was demolished in the 70s of the 20th century.

The architectural and archaeological expedition of the Institute of Archeology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, led by Vsevolod Ivakin, discovered the discovery during the security archaeological research.

According to experts, the coins were minted during the period 1817-1912. After restoration, they will be given to the exposition of the Museum of Archeology of the Institute of Archeology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

Supposedly, they were hid by a bank employee who once lived in this house on a rainy day.
