On December 10, 1520, Martin Luther publicly burned the papal bull Exsurge Domine to excommunicate him. She condemned the actions of the theologian and threatened to excommunicate him. One of the starting points of the Counter Reformation.

1845 - English inventor R. Thompson received a patent for a wheel for a cart, covered with a rubber tube - the world's first pneumatic tire.

1901 - the first Nobel Prizes were awarded, one of the most prestigious international awards, founded according to the will of the Swedish entrepreneur, inventor and philanthropist Alfred Bernard Nobel.

1915 - the one-millionth automobile Model T Ford is released. This was the triumph of Henry Ford, who, through the use of the assembly line of automobiles, was able to make it cheap and affordable.

1933 - The Government Library is founded in the BSSR - one of the largest specialized libraries of the Republic of Belarus. Located in the building of the Government House in Minsk.

1941 - four thousand Japanese troops landed in the Philippines. Thanks to Guam’s captured on the same day and the considerable loss of Americans in the attack on Pearl Harbor three days earlier, Japan had established almost complete control in the Pacific.

1953 - the first issue of Playboy magazine with Marilyn Monroe on the cover was released in 70,000 copies. The founder of the magazine, Hugh Hefner, was not sure that he would ever release the second issue.

1976 - in Britain, the studio EMI released the fifth disc of the group "Queen" entitled "A Day At The Races". The album was prepared and recorded in parallel with “A Night At The Opera” and turned out to be very similar to it, for which he was casually greeted by critics.

1981 - The New England Journal of Medicine published an article about a new disease that led to the death of 95 people, mostly among homosexuals. Later, the disease became known as Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS).

2001 - The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring premiered in Britain, the first film of the Lord of the Rings trilogy in the fantasy genre, based on the works of J.R.R. Tolkien "The Brotherhood of the Ring" and "Two Towers" directed by Peter Jackson.
