In the spring of 2018, Roman baths of the Ptolemaic era were discovered in Egypt. The most interesting discovery, according to local archaeologists, was a gold coin with the profile of Ptolemy III.

Excavations were carried out in the vicinity of the city of San el-Hagar, which was once called Tanis. There, in addition to rich utensils (ceramic vessels, terracotta figurines, bronze tools, panels with elaborate stone carving), the scientists managed to find a gold coin with the profile of Ptolemy III Everget.

This man was considered one of the most powerful pharaohs of the Ptolemaic dynasty. He won several wars, reformed the calendar and expanded the Alexandrian Library.

According to experts from the Ministry of Antiquities of Egypt, the coin was minted in the reign of Ptolemy IV in memory of the father and the era of the power of the Egyptian kingdom.
