On January 17, 2019, the National Bank of Ukraine introduces into circulation two new commemorative coins of Ukraine: “100 years of the Union Act - Sobornost of the Ukrainian lands” and “Bogdan Khanenko”.

The coin “100 years of the Union Act - the conciliarity of the Ukrainian lands”, face value of 5 hryvnia, is dedicated to the solemn proclamation of the act of uniting the Ukrainian People’s Republic and the West Ukrainian People’s Republic into a single independent state.

On January 22, 1919, an event occurred in a solemn ceremony on Sofia Square in Kiev that resulted in the relevant preparatory process — the Connection Act was proclaimed, an act of unification of the Ukrainian lands, in which it was noted that henceforth the Ukrainian people, freed by a powerful impulse of their forces, have the opportunity to unite the efforts of all their sons to build the indivisible independent Ukrainian state for the good and happiness of the Ukrainian people.

Coin "Bogdan Khanenko", face value of 2 hryvnia, is dedicated to the representative of the famous Cossack-senior family, collector, philanthropist, entrepreneur, public figure, who enjoyed authority in financial and industrial circles and was a prominent figure in the business and public life of Kiev - Bogdan Ivanovich Khanenko.

The work of life of Bogdan Khanenko was collecting. Together with his wife - Varvara Nikolaevna, he made a significant contribution to the cultural heritage of Ukraine - for more than forty years Bogdan and Varvara Khanenko collected unique works of world art and became the founders of the museum, which received their name.
