German soldiers during the Second World War kidnapped Georges Mandel canvas. He was recently returned to the heirs of a famous politician.

The heirs of a French politician of Jewish origin returned the picture that was stolen during the Second World War by the German military.

Portrait of a Seated Young Woman, written by Tom Couture, belonged to the famous French journalist, statesman and member of the French resistance, Georges Mandel.

The canvas found during the investigation by the German authorities of the activities of the collector Cornelius Gurlitt in 2012.

Gurlitt inherited about 1500 canvases from his father, who traded in paintings confiscated from the German military. Many of them were abducted from the Jews, but only a small part of them was returned to their rightful owners.
