Coming from a poor family with Irish, Scottish and English roots, Ronald Reagan showed no ability to learn at school or in college. After graduating in 1932, he got a radio job in Des Moines (Iowa), where his duties included commenting on the matches of the Chicago Cubs baseball team.

Being with her in Los Angeles, in 1937, Reagan passed tests at Warner Brothers studio and starred in numerous mediocre films, mainly in the style of "western". He had to almost always play uncompromising tacit sheriffs or cowboys.

He was elected chairman of the Actors Guild and, as such, actively participated in the investigation of the Committee on the anti-American activities of the US Congress in the late 1940s.
