June 27, 1931 in the United States was granted a patent for the invention of the first helicopter. Its author was Igor Sikorsky, an aircraft designer of Ukrainian origin.

He became one of the first to build turbine helicopters and amphibious helicopters. He founded the company "Sikorsky Aircraft", which became the leading manufacturer of helicopter equipment abroad.

His "Flying boat" S-42 set 10 world records. Models of this device became the first in the world intercontinental passenger liners. They managed to provide regular passenger transportation through the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans with refueling in the air.

Sikorsky S 1941 helicopters were in service with the US Army. They were flown by the country's presidents. Sikorsky was always the first to fly a new helicopter.
