On February 1, 1411, the First Peace of Torun was concluded between the Teutonic Order, on the one hand, the Kingdom of Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania - on the other. He completed the Great War of 1409-1411, which led to the defeat of the Order by the Allied forces in the Battle of Grunwald in 1410.

1664 - the army of the Polish king and grand duke of Lithuania Jan II Casimir was forced to lift the siege from Glukhov. This event was the beginning of a heavy retreat of the Polish-Lithuanian army. The king's great campaign failed, Rzeczpospolita finally lost Left-Bank Ukraine.

1709 - on the desert island of the Juan Fernandez archipelago in the Pacific Ocean, sailor Alexander Selkirk who became the prototype of Robinson Crusoe was found.

1800 - USS Constellation's battle with La Vengeance - naval battle between the USS Constellation frigate and the French naval frigate "La Vengeance" as part of an undeclared war at sea between the United States of America and the French Republic.

1908 - Portuguese regicide - shelling of the Portuguese royal family on the square of Lisbon by Republican terrorists dissatisfied with the policies of the king and the general situation in the country.

1930 - in the Times publishes the first crossword puzzle. According to one version, prototypes of modern crosswords appeared in the XIX century.

1958 - the first American satellite is launched into space. This happened after the successful launches of two Soviet satellites, held on October 4 and November 3, 1957.

1968 - South Vietnamese brigadier general, South Vietnamese police chief Nguyen Ngoc Loane shot Viet Cong officer Nguyen Van Lem. The partisan shot by Ndyuen Ngoc Loan made by Eddie Adams became one of the most famous photographs of the Vietnam War and a symbol of the cruelty of the civil war.

1982 - Intel released the first Intel 80286 - a 16-bit processor of the second generation x86 architecture.
