February 4th is the day in history

On February 4, 1789 in Philadelphia, at a meeting of electors representing 10 of 11 states, ratified the US Constitution, unanimously, with 69 votes, the first president of the United States of America was elected - George Washington, Commander of the Continental Army during the war for independence from Britain North American colonies.

1824 - american inventor and businessman Charles Goodrich in Boston presented the rubber galoshes to the public.

1906 - New York City Police Department decided to use fingerprints to identify criminals.

1921 - the Order of the White Eagle is restored - the highest award of Poland.

1945 - the Yalta Conference opened in Livadia (Crimea) - a diplomatic meeting of the leaders of the United States, Great Britain and the USSR in order to solve the problems of ending the Second World War and the post-war system.

1961 - the very first Soviet attempt to start to Venus. Sputnik-7 remained in very low Earth orbit due to the failure of the upper stage. The strange trajectory and dark message of TASS gave rise to speculation in the Western press that this was a manned ship disaster.

1971 - Rolls-Royce Limited, a British car and aircraft engine manufacturer, was nationalized as a result of bankruptcy.

1976 - the XII Olympic Winter Games began in Innsbruck (Austria), which ended on February 15.
