On February 5, 1585, the Assumption Stavropigh Brotherhood was founded in Lviv - a national-religious public organization of Orthodox Ukrainian and Greek burghers of Lviv. Its charter established for the brotherhood the right of superiority over other brotherhoods and the control of the clergy, including the bishops.

1816 - Rome hosted the premiere of Gioacchino Rossini's The Barber of Seville (another option - February 20).

1850 - the American company "Felix" patented an adding machine - a desktop mechanical computing machine for performing four arithmetic operations.

1909 - The Belgian chemist Leo Bakeland reported on the material he received, which he called "Bakelite." This material was the first synthetic reactoplast - plastic, which did not soften at high temperature.
