The Paris-based Art Mint Company for Niue Issuer issued a souvenir coin dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the invention of the pneumatic tire.

In 1887, Scottish inventor John Dunlop decided to pull wide 10 mm hoops made of a garden hose onto the wheel of a tricycle of his 10-year-old son and inflate them with air. And next year Dunlop was granted a patent number 10607 for the invention.

The souvenir coin is made in the shape of a wheel, its rim is framed with a real rubber tire.

The obverse depicts the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain, under which the sign of Art Mint and the initials of the designer are shown. The inscriptions “ELIZABETH II”, “NIUE”, “FIVE DOLLARS”, “2018” are minted on the edge of the coin.

On the reverse are engraved inscriptions: "130 YEARS - PNEUMATIC TIRES", "1888-2018".
