In the ancient Roman city of Pompeii, a fresco with the image of Naritsiss was discovered.
According to the project manager Alfonsina Rousseau, the authorities made concessions and allowed to continue research on the estate located on this site. Largely due to its beauty, it was decided not only to continue the excavation, but also to open it for public viewing in the future.
Narcissa's fresco was located in the bedroom of this estate. The ceiling of the room partially collapsed, but in the process of excavation, archaeologists managed to find the fresco itself and its fragments. Moreover, according to experts, the colors of this ancient image are very well preserved.
According to Greek mythology, Narcissus was a hunter, the son of the river god Kefiss and the nymph Liriope. He was famous for his beauty and disregard for all women who fell in love with him. As punishment, the gods led Narcissus to a pond, where he could see his own reflection. He fell so in love with himself that he looked at his image until he died. This legend made Narcissa very popular in Roman art.
