On February 20, 1831, during the Polish uprising of 1830–1831, the battle of Wawr ended. The haste of the advance of Palen, who started the battle without waiting for the arrival of the 3rd Infantry Division following him, and the non-simultaneous movement of the columns of I and VI corps created the difficult position of I Corps, which allowed the Poles to perform a series of successful attacks and bypassing the Russian right flank.

1872 - The Metropolitan Museum of Art was opened in New York, one of the largest and the fourth most visited art museums in the world.
