Scientists from the University of York found the story of a nun who staged her death in the 14th century with a dummy.

This way the woman chose not by chance. According to the archbishop, she thus wanted to escape from the monastery and "go the way of carnal lust."

A note about a nun-rebel was found in archival documents. It was one of the 16 registry volumes, recording the lives and deeds of the Archbishops of York from 1304 to 1405.

"She brazenly rejected the propriety of religion and the modesty inherent in her sex and with malicious intent pretended illness, faked her own death, not caring about the health of her soul, with the help of numerous helpers and villains, created a doll imitating her body," the letter of the archbishop says William Melton District Vicar of the City of Beverly.
