8-year-old resident of the UK named Sebastian found a very rare find. While walking with friends, he found a mammoth's tooth.

While walking with friends along the beach of Charmouth, a small archeological amateur stumbled upon a mammoth's tooth. At first he did not understand what he found. He thought it was an unusual stone or the remains of a dinosaur. In this area of Dorset are rare finds that are associated with them.

According to scientists, the tooth belonged to a woolly mammoth who lived 40,000 years ago during the Ice Age, which makes finding a rarity.

"The tooth is very worn and it is difficult to say for sure whether it is upper or lower," said Professor Daniel Shreve of the Royal College of Holloway in London.

She added that the most likely time of residence of this giant animal is between 60,000 and 25,000 years ago.

The woolly mammoth is an extinct species from the elephant family. This type of mammoth appeared from 300,000 to 200,000 years ago in Siberia, from where it spread to Europe and North America. The first scientific description of the woolly mammoth was composed by the German scientist and naturalist Johann Friedrich Blumenbach in 1799.
