James Francis Hurley, better known as Frank Hurley, is an Australian photographer and traveler of the first half of the 20th century.

His career in this role began in 1911 during the Australian Antarctic Expedition. It lasted from 1911 to 1913. There he showed himself “a warrior with a camera, ready to go anywhere and endure any hardships, just to get a good shot.”

In 1914, Frank Hurley joined the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition led by Ernest Shackleton. The photographer was even entitled to a salary of £ 6 per week and 25% of the rights to publish the captured photos and videos.
