Recall, at the end of last month, not far from the Slovak village of Likavka (илиilina region), a herd of wild boars unearthed deposits of ancient coins, which were later found by a married couple of local residents.
The husband and wife called archaeologists to the site of the finds, which in turn explored a territory of about two square meters. As a result, fragments of an earthen jar, a pair of gold coins and 1867 silver coins were found. According to experts, their age is 500-600 years.
At present, the cleaning of coins and their study continues. The first photos of the treasure, which was a considerable sum for that time, are already ready. For example, the employee’s daily earnings at that time were 6-10 silver coins, and a commoner could never hold gold coins in his hands. Researchers believe that the owner of the coins was in a hurry: the pit was not deep.
At the end of the work, the find will go to the Museum of the Liptov region in the city of Ruzomberok.
