France, return the stolen painting "Port La Rochelle", discovered in Ukraine

On April 23, 2019, a briefing was held by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, where the painting “Port La Rochelle” by French artist Paul Signac was presented.

The work of art was written in 1915 and is estimated at $ 1.5 million. The painting was stolen from the Museum of the School of Nancy - an art museum located in Nancy, France.

This museum is dedicated to one of the art nouveau art trends, developed in Nancy and called the Nancy School. The museum is located in the former home of the collector Eugene Corben. He has works of art by Emile Halle, Victor Prouvé, Eugène Vallin, Louis Majorelle and Jacques Grubert.

According to the press service of the Ministry of the Interior, the work of Paul Signac Port of La Rochelle was identified by suspects in the case of the jeweler Sergei Kiselev in Kiev. She will be returned to France after a complex of all necessary legal proceedings.

The briefing was held with the participation of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, French Ambassador Isabel Dumont.
