A few months ago, Chinese paleontologists were able to detect more than 20,000 ancient fossils, the age of which, in their opinion, was about 518 Ma. More than half of them previously science was not known.

Scientists were literally shocked by this find from the Chinese province of Hubei. It was even called one of the most important in the last century. Its uniqueness is not only in age, but also in the level of preservation. Indeed, despite the time, the soft tissues of prehistoric organisms found, including the skin, eyes and internal organs, are perfectly preserved.

At the moment, of the 20,000 ancient fossils, Chinese paleontologists have managed to investigate 4,351 specimens, including worms, jellyfish, sea anemones, and algae.

According to researchers, organisms were buried under a layer of mud as a result of a storm. This explains their level of preservation. Special excitement was associated with the remains of jellyfish and anemone. Scientists were struck by their diversity and quantity.

Now paleontologists are engaged in documenting the remaining fossils and continue to dig at the place of their discovery. They hope to soon find new samples.
