The Soviet Non-Aggression Treaty between the USSR and Germany, concluded on August 23, 1939, was scanned and published for the first time on the Internet.
In addition to the treaty itself, the historical-documentary department of the Russian Foreign Ministry provided a secret additional protocol to it.
According to experts, this is a great event for historical science, as previously scientists had only German versions of the treaty. Although the documents were published earlier, in the 90s. But visually for the public they are presented for the first time.
These documents will be used in the collection "Anti-Hitler Coalition 1939 - failure formula". The book was prepared by the Institute for Foreign Policy Studies and Initiatives. Historians examine in detail the years on the eve of the Second World War and analyze why the anti-Hitler coalition failed in 1939.
The non-aggression pact, also known as the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, was concluded by the heads of foreign affairs agencies on August 23, 1939. The Soviet Union and Germany pledged to refrain from mutual attacks, as well as to maintain neutrality, if either of the two countries starts hostilities with a third party.
