In ancient times, men carried the bones and teeth of animals, demonstrating their warlike spirit and strength. Many scientists call these ancient bracelets the first varieties of charms. Archaeological evidence confirms that charms have been prevalent throughout many centuries.

Charm bracelets, as jewelry made from precious stones and metals, appeared in the era of the Egyptian pharaohs. In the Roman Empire, Ancient Egypt and in the tradition of many other peoples of the charms were used to attract good luck and as a defense against evil spirits.

In the Middle Ages, charms were often used by knights who believed that such charms could protect them in battle. Charm pendants at this time were often worn on belts, while demonstrating a profession, an origin, and even political views. The owners of charms were noble people, representatives of royal families and even kings.

Pendants for bracelets that corresponded to Asian themes became widespread: such antiques were decorated with gold and silver images of rickshaws, pagodas, Buddha. They are often supplemented with precious and semi-precious stones. No less popular were charms in the form of various animals.
