Despite the fact that the mosaic is a decorative art with a long history, it is used in interior decoration quite often today. In essence, different images are formed due to the layout, selection and fixing of individual fragments in a specific order. As a rule, these are multi-colored stones, ceramic tiles and so on.

The history of the mosaic dates back to the second half of the 4th millennium BC, the time by which buildings of the Sumerian cities of Mesopotamia are dated.

The mosaic was composed of baked clay sticks-cones ("zigzags") with a length of 8-10 cm and a diameter of 1.8 cm, which were laid on a clay solution. The image was formed from the ends of these cones, which were painted, usually with red, black and white colors. Geometric motifs were used: rhombus, triangle.

Since then, the art continues to evolve. Mosaic is found both on the buildings of state institutions and on residential buildings. But today we will demonstrate examples of garden paths made for this technique with the help of pebbles and fragments of ceramic tiles.
