In the XIX century, smoking of Cuban tobacco cigarettes was allowed even to children. They were smoked everywhere, they were an indispensable attribute of every self-respecting gentleman. Traditional for many countries were afternoon cigar smoking with a glass of brandy or port wine.

The center of manufacture of cigars was considered Cuba. In the middle of the XIX century more than 100 tobacco factories worked there. There were produced up to 300 types of cigars of various brands.

At the end of the XIX century, due to the unstable political situation in the country, tobacco production moved to the United States. The center of tobacco production has become Tampa in Florida and New York.
