The Royal Mint of Canada issued a collection coin containing fragments of a real meteorite.

The coin is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the creation of the Royal Astronomical Union of Canada. It contains pieces of a 44-ton iron meteorite that fell in Argentina. The age of the metal rock, from which the meteorite consists, reaches billions of years.

The nominal value of a silver coin weighing 31.39 grams is $ 20, but it is sold at a price of 150 Canadian dollars. The coin will be available for sale in September 2018 in a series of 5,500 pieces.

The coin depicts a meteorite and the closest to the Earth, the Andromeda galaxy.
