Last week, a gold coin of the Ottoman Empire, ashrafi, minted in Constantinople during the reign of Sultan Mustafa II, was successfully sold. The purchased copy weighing 3.5 grams is perfectly preserved and immediately attracted the attention of numismatists. The value of the coin was $ 290. You can see the lot on the website.

Sultan Mustafa II ruled in 1694-1703, and during this period was one of the main opponents of Tsar Peter I. at this time, the last attempt of the Ottoman Empire to change the situation in opposition to the coalition of neighboring European powers called the "Holy League"was made. At the head of the army, Sultan Mustafa II achieved some success in the theater of operations, but was defeated by the troops, who acted under the leadership of outstanding generals - Eugene Savoy and Peter I.
