In the 1930s, photographer Angus McBean revolutionized portraiture. His theatrical pictures and works decorating Christmas cards demonstrate a high flight of imagination and carry the features of the Studio photographic avant-garde. Angus's interest in photography dates back to his College years. The desire to shoot the world was so great that he decided to sell his grandfather's gold watch, and the proceeds acquired the necessary equipment.

In his early years, Angus helped in the productions of plays, creating scenery. This experience certainly influenced him as a future photographer. In 1935, the Studio was opened, which created dozens of pictures, later published in glossy magazines. Among the customers were many theater companies. Despite the fact that in the second half of the 20th century the scope of work has decreased significantly, Angus McBean continued to cooperate with such well-known magazines as L'officiel and French Vogue.
