A painting of the XIII century years hung over the kitchen stove

In France, discovered a painting by Florentine artist Cimabue (real name – Cenni di Pepo). The work entitled "Crowning with a crown of thorns", written in the XIII century, for many years hung in the kitchen of a resident of Compiegne. The woman all these years thought that over her kitchen stove hung an old icon and once decided to take an expert for evaluation.

After studying the canvas, it was found that its cost is 4-6 million euros. The painting is part of a series of works by Cimabue dedicated to the life of Jesus Christ. The masterpiece of painting will be exhibited at the end of October at auction.
