On Violity sold a unique item, the aureus of Emperor Tacitus. The cost of numismatic rarity was 100 199 UAH. The obverse of the coin is decorated with a portrait of the Emperor, who ruled in 275-276. The coin was found on the territory of Ukraine. It is noticeable that the copy is restored. Probably one of its owners appreciated the beauty of the gold coin, and decided to restore its original appearance. You can find out about the deal here.

Tacitus ruled for a very short time, and the aureuses issued during his reign are a reflection of the greatness of Rome, which was recovering from the crisis faced by the state in the third century. The value of such aureuses is due to the fact that they are very rare.

Before becoming Emperor, Tacitus was an ordinary Consul. He took the place of Aurelian, and during his reign victories were won over the Goths in the provinces of Asia minor. However, within 6 months of ascending the throne, Tacitus died in Cappadocia. There is a version that he was killed by soldiers.
