In the Egyptian sarcophagus found part of the map of the afterlife

In the necropolis in Upper Egypt, when studying the sarcophagus, scientists found a copy of the famous map from the "Book of two ways". It is a plan of the afterlife and a description of the journey that dead people must make. The age of the sarcophagus is 4 thousand years.

"The book of two ways" - an ancient text, whose task was to facilitate the existence of the soul in the other world. Probably, this work preceded another, more famous text - "The Book of the dead", in which you can also find descriptions of such mythical routes.

During surface study of the sarcophagus were studied inscriptions that have survived on fragments of wooden planks. The scientists took high-resolution photos and then processed them for a more detailed examination of small objects. Thanks to this procedure it was possible to establish the contents of labels and to define the text.
