The town of Zbarazh, located in the Ternopil region, belonged to Austria-Hungary until the end of the First world war. At the end of the XIX century more than 8 thousand people lived here. One of the main attractions of the city was the old castle, repeatedly besieged by different armies, including the army of Bohdan Khmelnytsky. Over time, the fortress fell into disrepair, a sugar factory was built here, which did not survive the fire of 1896. At the beginning of the XX century there were two brick factories, mined stone, operated a mill. And since 1906, Zbarazh and Ternopil are connected by a railway.
