Ukrainian families of the XIX century in photographs by Alfred Silkevich

The author of these images of the nineteenth century – Alfred Sinkevich. The photographer was born in Ternopil and traveled around Western Ukraine, filming the life of Ukrainian families. His works were first shown in 1880 at an exhibition in Kolomyia devoted to ethnographic research. Sinkevich traveled to Poland, where he established his own Studio, giving him the name "Ioannina" in honor of his wife. In addition, the photographer is the author of pictures of Opera singer Solomiya Krushelnitskaya and writer Vladimir Luchakovsky.
