"Golden gate": Ukrainian coin purchased for 44 910 hryvnia

In November at the auction Violity was exhibited Ukrainian coin "Golden gate", made of gold 900 samples. It was released in 2004, and since the circulation is only 2 thousand copies, the buyer bought a real numismatic rarity. The coin value is 100 UAH. The diameter is 32 mm, and the weight is 31.1 g. the Buyer gave 44 910 UAH for the lot.

The Golden gate is a unique fortification built in the time of Prince Yaroslav the Wise. The name itself emphasizes the special importance that occupied this structure. The chronicler Nestor mentioned the construction in the chronicle in 1037: "Yaroslav Laid the great city, at the same city the Golden gate; he laid the Church of St. Sophia, the metropolis, and then the Church on the Golden gate - the Holy virgin of the Annunciation".
