A resident of the town of Aurich in Lower Saxony suddenly became the owner of a hidden treasure. The man went to the flea market, where he bought an old wall clock. Returning home, the buyer decided to investigate the item, and found inside 50 thousand German marks. The money was under a wooden panel – there were bills in the bundle that had been out of circulation for a long time.

Although this currency has not been used since 2001, by law it can be exchanged at the rate of 1 Euro for 1.95 marks. Thus, the German became the owner of 25 thousand euros, having received them in the Central Bank of Germany. He received the money six months after the discovery, taking it to the lost and found office and waiting for a certain period during which no one else claimed the property.
