In Walberton, located in West Sussex (UK), archaeologists have found a grave that dates back to the first century BC. No human remains were found in the burial, but weapons and several other items were found. In addition, on the ground, scientists saw a dark spot that may be the former wooden surface on which the deceased lay.

The grave contained several household items: pottery used for storing food, as well as fragments of products whose purpose is not known. As for the weapon, it is a long sword in a scabbard decorated with ornaments.

As noted by researchers, the burial of soldiers of this period in Sussex are very rare. There is even a discussion about whether the warrior was buried according to any military customs. Despite the fact that the skeleton itself was dissolved in the soil, the items suggest that the person buried here was an important person.
