Maria Angela Cassol worked on the project. The obverse of the coin is decorated with an image of Raphael's self-portrait, painted in 1506. Today, the original painting is stored in the Museum" Uffizi Gallery " (Galleria degli Uffizi). The side shows the country of the Issuer ("REPUBBLIKA ITALIANA") and the author of the project ("Cassol"). On the reverse is a part of the fresco "Athenian school", as well as the name of the coin itself ("RAFFAELLO"), the denomination and two dates: 1520 (the year of Raphael's death) and 2020.
