In the center of the city of Missoula, located in the state of Montana, USA, one of the construction sites turned into an excavation site. The remains of a small Chinese community, as well as a red light district, have been found here. At the end of the XIX century, this place was home to various entertainment establishments, and there were Chinese houses, shops and a temple nearby. Now archaeologists and students at the University of Montana are analyzing the finds and catalyzing them.

The first artifacts were found last summer. Since then, hundreds of items have been recovered from the ground, including fragments of ceramic products, glass bottles (including completely intact ones), tableware, vials for storing medicines, and coins. Many of the finds are typical of Chinese settlements founded in the second half of the 1800s. Thanks to the study of numerous sites, historians will be able to learn more about the social and cultural life of the city.
