In 1958, General Motors assembled the unique Firebird III concept car, which debuted in 1959. The two-seat car is equipped with two engines. A 10 HP petrol engine rotates all the wheels, while a 225 HP gas turbine unit rotates only the rear pair. It contains cruise control, air conditioning, and other additional features.

Control is carried out using a lever-the steering wheel, which is located between two passengers. According to test driver Emmet Conklin, you can learn to drive this car in 15 minutes, if you have experience of flying. The futuristic model looks like a small rocket with short high wings and fins. Among the technological innovations, a special attention should be paid to the protective system that prevents the occurrence of accidents.
