The restoration of three ancient buildings - Casa degli Amanti, Casa del Frutteto and Casa della Nave Europa - has been completed in the archaeological Park of Pompeii. All three houses are open to tourists at the end of six years of restoration work.

One of the structures, Casa degli Amanti, is also known as the "House of lovers". It was found during excavations in 1933, and partially destroyed in 1980. In addition, this is the only house in the city, the second floor of which is almost completely preserved. The house was built in the first century BC. Researchers believe that a brothel was located here.

In a building called Casa della Nave Europa, or "Home of the ship Europa", livestock were kept. The house got its name from a drawing on one of the walls depicting the cargo ship "Europa".

Casa del Frutteto, aka "Garden House", contains a courtyard – once there was a small garden. The structure was discovered in 1913 – the frescoes that adorn the walls depict gardens.
