Rare lot was set to Violity – silver
grivna of Novgorod. Its rarity is due to the presence of a stigma. The cost of the artifact, made in the XIV-XV century, was 36,050 hryvnia. After the discovery, the artifact was washed with water. The photo shows that there are scratches on the metal surface (presumably left by the plow).
Some experts call this hryvnia rook-like or hump-like because of its shape. Since fakes were distributed in addition to real hryvnias, the masters put a brand as a sign confirming authenticity. Until now, all the brands depicted on the Novgorod hryvnia are not fully systematized.
Stamps during the production of hryvnia were left by minters who confirmed the quality of the ingots. Merchants, in turn, put different inscriptions on them. On the territory of Ukraine, hryvnia with a brand are quite rare, they began to be introduced in the second half of the XIII century, after the invasion of the troops of Batu Khan.
