In one of the thrift stores in the city of Kitty Hawk, which is located in North Carolina (USA), a painting by Salvador Dali was discovered. The work of the Spanish surrealist was found by a volunteer, Wendy Hawkins, who studied the works for their subsequent evaluation. However, one of the paintings never made it to the store's shelves – when Wendy came across it, it seemed special, something that stood out from the rest.

The expert, after studying the picture, came to the conclusion that the watercolor work is an illustration of "Purgatory", one of the parts of Dante's "Divine Comedy". Moreover, the watercolor was signed by the author himself – the autograph was made in pencil. On the canvas, you can see two figures – one in a red dress, and the second in blue.

Salvador Dali spent 10 years creating a cycle based on the "divine Comedy", creating 100 watercolors. The project was approved by the National library of Italy, but later the artist was rejected – according to critics, the surrealist could not qualitatively illustrate the classic work.
