The sector of Antarctica called the British Antarctic territory issued commemorative coins on March 12 in honor of the 220th anniversary of the birth of British ExplorerSir James Clark Ross. Two ships, built for military operations and protected by a hull designed to withstand mortar bombs, under the command of Ross went to the South polar region. Thanks to the strong walls, they were able to break through blocks of ice.

The coin depicts the research ship "Erebus" (HMS Erebus), launched in 1826. The Vesuvius-class bombardment ship was part of the Royal Navy. The denomination, 50 pence, is shown on the side, at the top of the coin. The reverse side traditionally depicts a portrait of Elizabeth II. In addition, the place of issue and year are indicated here.

Orders have already started to be sent to customers. You can buy two types of coins: silver (circulation – 175 pieces) and copper-Nickel (circulation – 2750 pieces). The weight of the coin is 8 g, the diameter is 27.3 mm. Each copy is delivered in a special transparent case.
