Auction Violity holds position in the sale of commemorative Ukrainian coins. Especially in high demand are copies made of gold. Among the recent lots, the attention of numismatists was attracted by the coin "Ostrozka Bibliya" with a nominal value of 100 hryvnia. The cost of the copy was 43 500 hryvnias. The seller put the coin in a capsule, it is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
On the obverse is a fragment of an ornament that adorns the first page of the Ostrog Bible. The small state Emblem of Ukraine is located in the upper part, the text is placed below: the national Bank of Ukraine, as well as the nominal value and year of coinage – 2007. In addition, the metal, its sample and mass (Au 900, 31.1) are specified. On the reverse you can see the stylized portraits of Ivan Fedorov and Constantine of Ostrog, who are holding the open book. There are also inscriptions: Ostrog Bible (in the upper part), 1581 (in the lower part). The circulation of the coin is 4 thousand copies, the diameter is 32 mm.
The issue of the coin was dedicated to the monument of printing, created in 1581 – the first complete edition of the Bible in the Church Slavonic language. The book was printed in a workshop that operated at the Ostrog Academy. The initiator and patron was made by the Prince Vasily-Konstantin Ostrozhsky, who was invited for the project of Ivan Fedorov. The book contains 1,256 pages and was printed in an impressive edition of about 1,500 copies by the standards of the time.
