Austria has issued collectible coins prepared for Easter. The Easter series has been published annually since 2002. The new coins are dedicated to horses - animals that have had one of the most significant influences on the development of mankind. A strong bond and friendship is often established between the rider and the horse. Scientists believe that the horse was first domesticated in the IV century BC, and since then the animal has been involved in various fields of activity.

Helmut Andexlinger, Herbert wähner, and Kathrin Kuntner worked on the nine-sided coin project. There are two coins in total – silver and copper. Both are decorated with the image of a foal and an adult horse that looks after a cub. In addition, the new items contain an image of the gdevyati Federal provinces of Austria. The nominal value is 5 euros. A copper coin weighing 8.9 g and with a diameter of 28.5 mm was issued with a circulation of 200 thousand copies. The circulation of a silver coin of the same diameter and weight of 7.78 g is 50 thousand copies. The silver coin can be purchased in a special package with colorful images and a text Supplement.
