Niue has prepared for the release of a coin with a self portrait of van Gogh

In 2020, a Niue coin dedicated to the Dutch artist Vincent van Gogh will be on sale. Numismatic novelty with a face value of 5 dollars is made of 999 silver. The reverse shows a portrait of the painter, which contains many relief details. There are no inscriptions. All information is contained on the obverse (year of manufacture, nominal value), in addition, in the center is a portrait of Elizabeth II. The diameter of the coin is 80 mm, the weight is 62.2 g. Planned circulation is 500 copies.

Previously, Niue has already produced products in honor of the work of van Gogh – in 2014, a circulation of coins in honor of the painting "Sunflowers", written in 1888. The new coin depicts one of the self-portraits created by the author a few years before his death.
