In the South-Eastern part of Poland, near Tichobórz, farmer Mariusz Dyl found an incredible treasure – 1753 ancient Roman silver coins. The discovered specimens could not be collected immediately – the coins were scattered over a very large area. The farmer collected all that he could and went to the Museum in Hrubieszów to tell about the treasures. After him, a group of archaeologists arrived here - researchers found more than a hundred coins.

After a superficial study, it turned out that all the artifacts belong to the I–II centuries ad.These are silver denarii of the time of the emperors Nerva and Septimius Septimius Severus. Probably, the coins were hidden here at the turn of the II and III centuries ad. The total weight of the find was 5.5 kg – this is the largest treasure in this region.

When such coins were in circulation, this part of Poland was inhabited by vandals. Probably, the treasure belonged to one of the representatives of this people. Scientists from the University of Warsaw plan to investigate the treasure.
